Business Recruitment and Retention
Our Historic Downtown has a long history of commitment by its business owners. More than $100 million dollars have been invested in historic downtown since the start of the downtown revitalization efforts more than 20 years ago. With over 4,000 employees working and living in historic downtown and the LowerTown Arts District, businesses have access to a steady flow of customers. Shops, including Groundfloor Shoes, Kirchhoff's Bakery & Deli, and Allen Music are all celebrating decades of success in Paducah’s historic downtown. We continue to add unique boutiques, fabulous restaurants, and specialty shops to our collection.
The City of Paducah has several business incentive programs in the works for new and existing property owners. One of these is our successful Roof Stabilization program. We also work with our business owners through promotions of our downtown with special events, holidays, and partnerships with other organizations. Properties within our historic districts may also qualify for state and federal historic tax credits when rehabilitating one of our historic structures. For more information on incentives, call the Paducah Planning Department at 270-444-8690.
